LOCATION
THE GASPESIAN BRITISH HERITAGE VILLAGE
The Village opened in the summer of 1989. It's
mission is to introduce people to the history of
the first inhabitants of the Gaspe Coast. Located
on 40 acres of field and woodland, you can go
on a trip back through time from 1760’s to early
1900’s with our 24 historic buildings.
Our villagers will present you the life of the first
settlers: Loyalist, Scottish, Welsh, English and
Channel Islanders. From the general store to
the lighthouse on Duthie’s Point, passing by
the Number Nine school and the blacksmith shop,

you’ll discover our wonderful collection of artifacts.

THE TOWN OF NEW RICHMOND
Bordered by the Cascapedia River, a world famous salmon river and by the Bay of Chaleurs, member of the
World's Most Beautifull Bays, the town of New Richmond is unique on the Gaspesian peninsula. Founded during
the second half of the sixteenth century, the handfull of Acadians who inhabited the town originally, were joined by
English, Loyalists Scottish, Irish and Jersey Islanders, among others. Thanks to these newcomers and to the
native community, the town slowly developed.
New Richmond will undoubtedly seduce visitors wiith it's enchanting scenery and warm inhabitants renowned for
their hospitality.
